Relocatable Equipment Building (REB) Vs Tracksafe Cabinet
- Costs: The REB will always win this argument until you have to pay for the REB. The environment between the current location case and an air-conditioned REB are worlds apart but so are the costs. The Tracksafe cabinet brings the operating environment much closer to that of an existing REB.
- Cooling: An REB with forced air cooling is not as good as a Tracksafe Cabinet with passive thermal management. Most equipment does not need an air-conditioned, stable 20oC. With a significantly improved security rating overall, the outer case of the Tracksafe Cabinet can be removed and replaced in sections without interrupting the functionality of the equipment it contains, if required.
- Reliability: The Tracksafe Cabinet will offer long-term benefits and reliability, which will then improve the performance of the operational railway. In most cases, the cost of the air-con, REB and increased maintenance will be more than the increase in costs due to shorter service life i.e. replacing the battery packs slightly more often.
